声线兼备蓝调、民谣、爵士味道的Katie Melua，常被乐评拿来与诺拉琼丝相提并论。但她那相较甜美清澈的年轻嗓音，让人遥想起已逝的跨界流行爵士美声Eva Cassidy。而在被Mike Batt发掘的那天，Katie所演唱的正好就是受Eva启发而学下的创作曲“Faraway Voice”。此外，她也自承在音乐方面受到Queen、Joni Mitchell、Bob Dylan和印度音乐及爱尔兰民谣等多类乐风的影响。
2005年，Katie发行了她的第二张录音室专辑"Piece By Piece"。首支单曲主打Nine Million Bicycles融合着爵士的流行味道慢版的抒情小调扑面而来。而对于我们来说，最重要的是，她讲述了一个来自北京的故事。一般来说，专辑的前三支单曲都是抓人耳朵的。所以，从Shy boy,Nine Million Bicycles,再到专辑同名歌曲Piece By Piece，我们听到的是基于流行和接近平淡的Katie的声音和演唱。
